Justice Ferdino Rebello sworn in as Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court on 26-06-2010

It is a real honour to have the son-of-the-soil Justice Ferdino I. Rebello, elevated to the post of Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court on June 26, 2010. Justice F. I. Rebello was administered the oath of office by Uttar Pradesh governor B. L. Joshi at a ceremony held inside the Court premises

Justice F. I. Rebello who hails from the village of Cuncolim is only the second Goan to rise to such an esteemed position after another Goan Justice G. D. Kamat who was elevated to the post of Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court.

We Goans wish and pray that he gets elevated to the post of Supreme Court Judge.

  • Date of Birth 31-07-1949.
  • Passed LL.B. from Government Law College, Mumbai.
  • Enrolled as an Advocate on 30-07-1973.
  • Practiced in the Judicial Commissioner's Court, Panaji from 1973 to 1982 and then at the Panaji Bench of the Bombay High Court from 1982, in Service, Consitutional, Local Self Government matters.
  • Worked as a part-time lecturer in Law at Salgoncar Law College from 1975 to 1977.
  • Was President of the Goa High Court Bar Association from 1994 to 1996.
  • Designated as Senior Advocate in December 1995.
  • Appointed as an Additional Judge of the Bombay High Court for a period of 2 years w.e.f. 15-04-1996 & Permanent Judge from April,1998.
  • Elevated as the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court on June 26, 2010.
  • Due to retire on 31th July, 2011.
